Crossroads Blues in an Empty Bar

  • I’m sittin’ here, playin’ my heart on the worn-out strings,
In this empty bar, where the lost shadow sings.
Pour me a drink, let the whiskey flow,
These dirty hands have got nowhere to go.

The thunder road is callin’, but I can’t get away,
With a blues angel whisperin’ through the shades of gray.
Crying moon hangs heavy in the midnight sky,
As I raise my glass to the memories gone by.

A wishing well of hope where the raindrops fall,
Each note that I play echoes through these four walls.
The jukebox spins tales of lovers who’ve strayed,
In the silence of the night, where dreams slowly fade.

Oh, the whiskey nights are a comforting lie,
They wrap me in warmth as the world passes by.
But the clock’s tickin’ fast, and the clock’s tickin’ slow,
I've got crossroads blues; where the hell do I go?

Now the barstool might be my only friend,
Just a lonely song that I had to send.
But I’m searchin’ for that road where the music is free,
Where a tired old soul can finally just be.

So I’ll raise a toast to the life that I’ve led,
With dirty hands and a heart full of dread.
But the night will end and the dawn will break through,
And maybe, just maybe, I’ll find my way too.

In the echoes of silence, I’ll linger no more,
With each strum and each sigh, I’ll walk out that door.
So here’s to the crossroads, where choices collide,
I'll leave behind shadows; let the light be my guide.
