In the twilight shadows, I catch the evening sigh,
That old train's a-rolling, beneath the blood-red sky.
I’m lost in the rhythm, a heart that’s outta tune,
Longing for a whisper, beneath the waning moon.
The steel tracks are glistening, like tears on my face,
Each click and each clatter, they mark this empty space.
I keep searching for answers in the smoke and the steam,
But all I feel is heartache, like a long-forgotten dream.
Chasing down the echoes, of a love that slipped away,
The whistle’s a reminder of the games that we’d play.
Your laughter haunts the night air, like a ghost in the breeze,
I’m holding on to whispers, that float through twilight trees.
Oh, that train keeps moving, but I’m standing still,
With every mile it travels, I feel your absence chill.
Lost in the midnight, where memories entwine,
Longing for that moment when our hearts were still aligned.
When the stars start to scatter, and the dawn breaks the dark,
I’ll climb aboard that train, to chase a distant spark.
But until then I’ll wander, through the stories we wrote,
With a heart full of longing, and dreams that I tote.
Now twilight’s creeping closer, the night’s got me in its hold,
But I’ll keep listening always, to the whispers I’ve been told.
For even in the sorrow, there’s a beauty that remains,
As long as there’s a twilight train, I’ll embrace the blues in my veins.
