Rusty Blues on a Howling Night

  • The wind’s a wailing, howling through the trees,
As I sit here on this porch, with memories that never cease.
Got that old guitar in my hand, it’s playin’ the blues,
Echoes of my past, yeah, I just can’t seem to lose.

Shadows dance around me, flickering in the light,
Remindin’ me of those days when everything felt right.
But now it’s just the rust, and a heart that's filled with pain,
Every note I strum, brings back the sweet refrain.

I’m yearnin’ for the sunshine, and the laughter of a friend,
But all I’ve got is silence, watchin’ night descend.
The stars are shining brightly, but they don’t light my way,
Just a lonely tune, in a restless heart's dismay.

The echoes of your laughter, hang heavy in the air,
Like a ghostly serenade, I reach out for that care.
The shadows whisper secrets that I just can’t bear to find,
In this rusty frame of memory, I’m a prisoner to my mind.

I feel that howlin’ wind, it knows my every song,
It carries all my wishes, but the nights feel oh so long.
Still I’ll play this melody, until dawn breaks the spell,
Maybe in its rhythm, I can finally say farewell.

So here on this old porch, with the rust upon my soul,
I’ll sing these blues of yearning, till I finally feel whole.
And when the mornin’ comes, like a brighter day in sight,
I’ll pack up all my shadows, and let go of this night.

Blues

Rust, howling, porch, yearning, shadows
