Smoky Trails

Smoky Trails

  • On the road where the shadows play,
I’m walkin’ down those smoky trails today,
With a trembling heart that’s feeling low,
In the midnight breeze where the lost souls go.

Dusty twilight wraps around my mind,
As the echoes of memories are so unkind,
I hear a shadowed hum from the trees,
Swirling whispers ride on the soft, cool breeze.

There’s a fleeting ache that won’t let me be,
Like an old, worn-out guitar, singin’ melody,
Underneath the stars, there’s a velvet glow,
But the pain in my chest just won’t let go.

So I wander on, with my head held high,
Chasing phantoms that dance in the sky,
With each step forward, a reminder stings,
Of the love that I lost and the heartache it brings.

Now the night is fading, the light will soon break,
But this old blues song still makes my heart ache,
And in shadows and whispers, I’ll find my way home,
To the peace in the silence where I won't have to roam.

So I’ll cherish the journey, in the depths of my soul,
With smoky trails behind me, I’ll learn to feel whole,
For the velvet glow fades, yet the memories will stay,
And I’ll dance with my past as I find a new way.

Blues

Smoky trails, trembling heart, midnight breeze, dusty twilight, shadowed hum, fleeting ache, velvet glow
